Advanced Picture Hosts Help

Everybody knows imageshack (you know… the little frog that tells you the picture cannot be seen  ). Well, there are equivalent picture hosts that count the number of picture viewers and pay you for the number of views !

If you google that, you’ll find maybe a hundred of them. I’m managing a big website and with other fellow webmasters we tested nearly all of them, and it was a hell to find a host that really paid, that was easy to use, that was technically reliable and worked for a long time already. We found one !

The host is Imagereverb.

You create an account (for free of course), and next all you have to do is upload your contents, you can chose to upload single pictures or a zip file containing your pictures (max 50 MB per archive). Imagereverb downloads it from you, and it will generate a gallery with these picture for you, in the alphabetical order. You will be able to see each picture or the pictures gallery, each picture will have its unique adress (composed of a thumbnail, a small-size picture, linking to the real-size picture hosted at imagereverb), and an easy tool allows to create the code for the whole gallery in html or in BBcode (for forums) .

Imagereverb pays 1 $ for 2500 unique viewers per gallery per day.
That sounds little ? Imagine you share 50 different pictures, each in a different gallery, if 50 persons click them (very easy if you have a gallery website !), that’s it.

If you’re already used to having your advertisements on your website, there is the “adspace” option, in which instead of being paid, imagereverb offers you two horizontal banner spaces (468×60 type) above and below the picture, and you can indicate in your profile the html code to call inside it your own advertising banner codes. That will be more proffitable, but if you’re new to this, go for the basic standard option where you’re paid !

You can also use the picture as an illustration in a torrent you are sharing, my torrents always make more than 15 000 picture views the first day. And 10 k the second day, 5 k the second day, with an average afterwards of 1 k per day the rest of the month.
For torrents : help your own self, and share it to at least 5, better 10 different big places (puretna, cheggit.net, datorrents, hongfire.com, mininova, isohunt, thepiratebay, etcetera…)

You can also share pictures galleries on forums, some forums dedicated to beautiful pictures welcome more than warmly people sharing good pictures to view ! The best way to proceed is to create a “my own thread” in which you reply to yourself (or the responders of course), so that you eventually have a big page with many pictures of yours that will be very interesting, and someone opening it will have the chance to open pictures from many galleries of yours. Try not to make more than 200 thumbnails per page, after it will be too heavy.

You’d best use Imagereverb in combo with another advertiser for you, I mean :

Usercash

You log into your usercash interface, copy-paste your imagereverb gallery links, and usercash creates for you a new gallery links, with their ad frame on top of pages. You’re paid 1$ per 9 999 views : that’s not much, but that’s still a bonus, and it’s not per unique visitors per gallery, no, it’s per view, so it may be even more interesting, imagine if your galleries are cool and each visitor clicks 50 picture links, ONLY with 200 happy visitors you made 1$, that’s 30$ per month ! Create more galleries, tell more people about your blog, everywhere, and you’ll have more than 200 happy visitors per day :)

Usercash also provides a very useful function : gallery pages. You have a gallery made of 100 pictures ? Transform your image links into usercash links, and usercash will create for you a “landing page” where all your thumbnails are nicely placed in a big table, row after row, and you can use that link anywhere you want after this. On forums, you can share just a few preview pictures (2 from each gallery, for instance), and add a link saying “click HERE to view the complete pictures gallery” – and landing page openings are paid 1 $ for 3 999 clicks, another bonus ;)

Advanced Zip Hosts Help

You can also share compressed files or folders of files (with winzip or winrar…), 3 hosts are willing to pay you depending on the number of downloads. Place anything in the archives, as long as it is legal !

All the hosts are commercial companies. Do you think they offer you hosting and their bandwith because they like you ? No. Even non-paying zip hosts like rapidshare, for instance. They add restrictions to the file downloads, like long waiting timers, or number of available slots that make you try again until the download starts – and of course you see advertisements all along. That is only if you pay for a premium/gold/member account that all restrictions are removed. This is a proffitable commercial service.
Some hosts will contain more advertisements than the others, and in exchange, you get a share. I list the 3 best I know of, I personally earn 450$ per month with files shared among them.
This is simple : you upload, they give you a link to share, and they count every download made, you’ll see the list of all your uploaded files (with their link) in your admin interface. They all pay by paypal and other various payment methods. Share many files, list them somewhere, spread the links, and the downloads will soon cumulate fast !

- Depositfiles : the best payer, officially 5 $ per 1000 downloads (1 $ for 200 downloads), but they don’t count all countries (if someone from North Korea downlads your file, it won’t be counted…), it’s more likely 2-3 $ for 1000 downloads. The most annoying ads and downloading restrictions too. You are offered 5$ when you signup (for free of course !), you’re paid as soon as you reach 40 $ of income.

- Easy-Share : officially and really 10$ for 10 000 downloads (1 $ for 1000 downloads), no country nor “x downloads per day per IP” counting restrictions.
The ads are tolerable, the downloads very fast, you’re paid as soon as you reach 15 $ of income.
Easy-Share offers a cool feature in addition, an upload applet that you can place on your blog (they give you the html code) for visitors to upload stuff using your applet, and the uploaded files are counted as your uploads, and counted/paid that way too.

- Megaupload : very simple and easy interface for you and the downloaders, very little ads, pays almost as best as easy-share (a few countries are excluded from the count). The downside is that you are paid only when you reach 100 $ of income (100 K downloads). And that you must have first paid for a monthly membership as a “premium” megaupload member. That looks outrageous, but for around 12 $ you have the right to cash in 100 $, and you buy a membership only once, the next payments you won’t be asked that again.
Attention, their payment system is automatically renewed every month, so you need to cancell the rebilling before a second month starts (you log into your personal interface, managed by ccbill.com, and your profile indicates “automated renewal”, you just click “stop renewal”, and voila). Megaupload will know you paid, and that will be OK for them.

While Depositfiles and Easy-Share accept adult contents too, Megaupload strictly bans it, you won’t be paid if they find that you uploaded adult contents (and believe me, before sending 100 $ by paypal, they will indeed check.)

Firefox : installation and first steps

If you’re not using firefox yet, I would really like to be able to convince you to change now. Forget the marketing war between Mozilla and Microsoft, and concentrate on the facts.

Why chose Firefox ?

- using Firefox is very agreable, the browser is cute with awesome skins, and it is very intuitive and can be tuned so that you control everything while moving your hand only a little. You can open links in a new tab instead of opening them in a new window, that’s a new freedom, you can open even 20 tabs, reorder them, without messing totally your desktop. You can bookmark all 20 bookmarks at once. And no need to install Windows Genuine Advantage to enjoy the latest quality browser available ;)

- the ad and popup blocking is more efficient with Firefox, IE lets more ads pass

- Firefox has easy-to install (one click) and easy to completely remove (one click) extensions that allow you to have a browser fitting your needs completely. Nobody even your mom or your wife working in pair could fill your needs like that in real life.

- Firefox is more secure. Really. Being open-source is an advantage when there are thousands of active developers : the bugs are spotted faster, and even more importantly, the security issues are fixed much faster, and firefox will automatically tell you a new version is available, and offer you to install himself the update.

- If you’re a developer, Firefox respects web standards like IE never did, and you can develop websites in a pro manner.

»» Make the test, you’ll be seduced !

First Steps with Firefox

Firefox is ready to roll as soon as you install it. But believe me, it can become even better !

If you want it to be more sexy, hundreds of skins are available, they can be installed in one click.

The extensions make firefox an incredible browser. I’ll quote my favorites and most useful ones :

- Undo Closed Tab : you closed a tab by accident, and you don’t remember the adress ? No problem, click the UndoClosedTab button in the menu bar and firefox restores the window. It can restore a tab closed 8 windows ago !

- Adblock Plus allows to prevent advertisements from showing, using a list of filters that tells if it will refuse an element to be loaded into firefox. Install it. When offered to subscribe to a list of adblock filters, chose the first offered one. Next, Open Tools > Addons > Adblock Plus > Preferences, uncheck “show in menu bar”, check “show in status bar”. You’re done, most of the ads will be gone ! And when an advertisement is still displayed, right-click the small icon of adblock in the status bar, ask “show all blockable elements”, and find the URL belonging to the advertisement. Unless that comes from a trusted domain, you can block the whole domain, here is how : in the blockable elements, double click the URL of the ad, for instance www.adcompany.com/adverts/banners/ad.gif, delete everything but adcompany.com, and press “enter”. Click “OK”, and you’re done, nothing from adcompany.com won’t ever show up anymore, unless you temporarily deactivate adblock.

- All In One Gestures. Install it, and have fun, mouse moves when right-click is pressed trigger actions like opening the next tab, opening a new window, hitting “previous/next”, etcetera. I never need to click the previous or next buttons, for instance :) And now, if you do a mouse scroll in the list of the tabs, that opens the next tab, and the tab after if you continue scrolling, etcetera…

- Video Download Helper. When you open a page containing a streaming video, the plugin’s icon (in the menu bar) starts moving a little, and if you click it it will offer you to download the streaming video to your hard disk as a normal video !

- ForecastFox. Small icons in the status bar tell you the meteo forecasts for you !

- FoxyTunes. Buttons are added to your status bar to let you play/pause/next/forward your media player, like Winamp, or Windows Media Player.

- Ebay Companion. Monitor your ebay auctions, tools to help you bid and outbid !

- Image Zoom You can zoom in and out the pictures embedded into webpages (you stay in the webpage, it modifies the layout temporarily), or make a picture fit the screen’s size, before you ask it to become of original size again. 200% useful !

- the Google toolbar offers useful Google information like the pagerank of the page you are viewing and advanced phishing protection thanks to a blacklist held by google .

»» Many more plugins are available ! You’ll be seduced;)

For Webmasters and bloggers, these extensions are a must-have :

Webmaster Developer Toolbar, Firebug, ScribeFire (formerly called Performancing).
They are explained in details in the Advanced Firefox Tuning for Webmasters page.

The Firefox extensions for professional webmasters

These 2 extensions will allow you to comprehend in depth a website’s structure and develop websites better and faster.

- Webmaster’s Toolbar. Visualize the css properties of every element of a page, where are the tables and how they’re imbricated, view the complete CSSes, edit the CSS “live” to see the result, display and edit frames, forms, image, outline elements, and MUCH more… This is just essential for a webmaster, and I mean it. One example, the “Information > Display element information” menu. Move your mouse pointer around, a small red square will surround the css-controlled zones; click, and hovering oner the page, a window will tell you that element’s properties, html and css tags, parent & child tags and zones.
- FireBug. Dozens of webmaster tools for your page, the most useful one allows you to edit the firefox-cached source code of a page you opened (html/css), to see at once what changes it makes locally. Excellent !! That works for your site, but even on any other site viewed in firefox, so you can get to understand how another website’s design works, change something, see what it makes.

»» Firefox will save you much more time, enhance your capabilities, we call that a productivity explosion ;)

Make something productive with these extensions

- Make your website more sexy ! Combine Web Developer Toolbar with Firebug to improve your design finely.
If your design sucks, give it up and adopt a theme. All blog platforms offer freely downloadable blog themes, the richest of all being wordpress. At wordpress.com you can create a wordpress blog, they host you and there are plenty quality themes available. At wordpress.org you can download wordpress for free (it’s open-source), upload it on a host of your choice, in one minute it’s ready. Next, many websites offer incredibly sexy themes for wordpress (WordPress Home for instance, or Freewpthemes for blazing recently created quality themes).
But don’t keep the original theme “as is”, because thousands other persons will have it too. Tweak it, edit it, modify it to your heart’s content, and use the two above extensions to achieve it easily. If your blog isn’t original for the eye and interesting at first glance, this is dead meat already.

- Copy the good points of the other blogs of your niche ! No shame here, you want visitors and money, or not ? Usually, when you don’t understand how something works on another website (unless this is based on php or ajax), using Firebug, you change various points on the page until you see which ones modify the part you want to copy, and changing here and there, you get to understand how it works. Next ? Copy it to your blog

- Two very simple but ESSENTIAL functions, present in Firefox, that IE desperately lacks are : Display background image and Copy picture’s URL, in the right-click menu. Does it look trivial ? Remember that most of the quality css-based themes impose custom background pictures for selected zones instead of one unique background picture… With IE, you’d have no way to understand what are the pictures composing a blog, while with firefox, this is elemental knoweledge. Make the test, open www.richerblogger.com with IE (if you’re not using IE already), and see how long it will take you to find and open the transparent borders around the posts, and understand what they are ?

»» The best is to see for yourself

Additional extensions for the webmaster

- FireFTP is an FTP client with complete FTP functions, drag and drop interface, server bookmarks, etcetera… and yet this is a firefox plugin ! With FireFTP you don’t even need to install another FTP client.

- Scribe Fire. ScribeFire (previously Performancing for Firefox) is a full-featured blog editor that integrates with your browser and lets you easily post to your blog.

- LivePagerank. The Google pagerank of the page you’re currently viewing is shown in the statusbar. You’re more likely to have much to learn from a website with high pagerank, by the way.

»» I really hope I have convinced you :)

Megavideo advanced help

Megavideo was created by the Megaupload team, and is a competitor of Youtube : it works the same way and has the same functions. There are 2 additional features :
- you have a “download the video” link
- you are paid for the number of people who viewed your videos

Every 100 000 views, you earn 100 $, sent to you by paypal.
This number of views may look big, but please, take a look at youtube, there are hundreds of thousands of videos that have more than 20 K views… Upload five like that, and you win ! Besides, when you share a good video, there will be many people who will be promoting it for you afterwards.

Hints :
- when possible, share original, never-seen-before contents
- if you lack inspiration, find excellent videos on youtube or on other streaming websites, use Video Downloader for Firefox to save the .flv format video to your hard disk, and upload the .flv to megavideo as your own
- share the links to your videos on a few discussion boards (just google “forum streaming lol video” for instance, and adapt it to your preferences), on a few blogs in a comment, and if you want you can even create your own blog (example : at wordpress.com, they host you for free)
- post your own videos as responses to other people’s videos inside megavideo
- you can share a shorter version of your video on youtube and veoh, and in the description, place a “full version available HERE link” : leech youtube’s traffic !
